Phra Phong Supan

Phra Phong Supan was Discovered in B.E 2456 (1913) in Wat Phra Sri Ratanamahathat, Supan Buri province. The unique of this amulet is that the creator will leave a thumb print at the back of the amulet. It power are protecting from weapon and bring good luck. It was also call "Fighting Buddha"(that what they said!) legends said that no matter what situation (life or death) the wearer facing, they will never face the death end, thus make it into the most powerful amulet.

Every piece of Phra Phong Supan is one of a kind and holding on it will never be the same as the other. To find the real stuff is very difficult, even if found most likely its won't fit into the benjapakee category. (age, origin, pim.)

Phra Somkor

Phra Somkor, one of the great benjapakee piece. It replaced the Phra Lee La amulet as it is smaller and a genuine Phra Lee la is hard to find. Phra Somgkor was made during Sukhothai era ( about 500-600 years).

It was first discovered in B.E. 2392 (1849) in
Wat Phra Borom, Kampaeng Phet province. They were typically made of red bake clay and kept inside chedi for over the year to preserve Buddhism at that time.

Phra Somkor amulet also called Buddha of fortune. It was said that when it was found, a script was wriiten on the wall of chedi says "whoever has me will never be poor" The style of Phra Somkor amulet can trace back to Sukhothai and Sri Lanka style. The calcium layer on the amulet itself will takes hundreds of year to form, thus proving authenticity of it's ancient history.

Although Phra Somkor is one of the benjapakee set, but only 3 type of Phra Somkor are recognize o fit in the set. They are Pim Yai, Pim Klang and Pim Lek.

Phra Rod

Phra Rod, being the oldest amulet in Thailand, found at Wat Mahawah, Lum Pum province in the Northern Thailand. The production year can date back during Haripoomchai period BE 1223 (over 1300 years). It was used to call Rod Ko Puan which means the smallest in Northern Thailand dialect.

The most popular ones are those originated from Wat Mahawan. Together Phra Somdej, Phra Nangphaya, Phra Somkor and Phra Phong Supan, they form the grand set of Benjapakee.Unfortunately today it is just very hard to acquire such a set unless you are extremely wealthy.

There are total 5 molds in Phra Rod amulet

  1. Pim Yai
  2. Pim Krang
  3. Pim Lek
  4. Pim Tor
  5. pim Teun
Phra Rod is not just an amulet, it was also part of Thailand ancient heritage. I personally find it was one of the most detail(for the size made during that era!) and
beautiful amulet that i ever encounter. Even after so many years passes on its still keep in quite a good condition.

Thai people called this amulet as Buddha of Escape. Meaning wearing this amulet can escape from disasters, dangers and misfortune. Some even said that a real Phra Rod amulets edges are so sharp that it can scratch metal due to it has being buried in the ground for a long time until it is solid like a rock. Phra Rod are made from baked clay which seen in several colours due to difference used to bake the amulets.

Phra Somdej Amulet

Somdej Toh was born in 17 April 1788 (BE 2331). One of the most famous
Buddhist monks during Rattanakosin period. It is believed that he is the son of
King Rama II. He was ordained as a novice monk in 1800 (BE 2343) at the age of
12 and as a monk in 1807 (BE2350) under the Royal Patronage at Wat
Praseeratanasasadaram (Wat Phra kaeo) in Bangkok. He studied the Buddhist
scriptures of the Pali Canon with several Buddhist masters. The venerable
monk was known to be a good speaker as well as a highly intelligent and
compassionate person.

In 1864 (BE 2407) at the age of 76 during Rama IV reign Somdej Toh was given
the ceremonial name Phra Buddhacara Toh Phramarangsi.Somdej Toh passed away
on 22 June 1872 (BE 2415) at the age of 85. He is probably one of the most
respected monks in Thailand.

In his years as a monk, he created about 84 000 pieces of Phra Somdej Wat
Rakang amulets, scattered in many parts of thailand. It was believed that
whoever wear the Phra Somdej Watrakang amulet will have positive and luck
in everything they do through the amulet.

The core materials of Phra Somdej amulets are
  1. Pattamung powder - invulnerable
  2. Ittijay powder - kindliness, grace popularity
  3. Maharaj powder - honor, reputation and fame.
  4. Buddakhun powder - accident avoidance
  5. Trinisinghae powder - charm.

The process start by writing holy scripts, sutra and holy symbol with a chalk on a
board. Then it will be erased and rewritten several hundred times. The dust will
then collected, mix with water and mould into a pencil shape and sun dried. It was
then he use it to write another chapter of sutra. This process will repeat 5 times
and after that it will mix with other holy ingredients to mould the amulet.
(Consider there is no modern machine or tools to help in production at that time.)
Therefore a real Phra Somdej Wat Rakang is so sort after in Thailand. There
are people willing to offer around 10 million baht for a top notch Phra Somdej
Wat Rakang amulet made by Somdej Toh.

Of course if you can do chanting, the most suitable chanting for Phra somdej
Amulet ill be Chinnabanchon. By chanting this mantra, you are protected by
Buddha and his disciples all around you and no harm or evil can go near you.
Below here is the kata Chinnabanchon script with translation. ( sorry for the
pronunciation, this is the best we could do to make it easy for you to recite)

LP Tim

Luangpu Tim

LP Tim was born in Ban Hua Tunnttabuon, Tambon Laharn, Ampher Bannkaii, Jungwat Rayong on the 16th June BE 2422.

After he came back from Tan Poh Singh to study, at the age of 19 he was ordained as a monk at Wat Thatkaow in BE 2499.

He was ordained by Phrakru Kaow, Archan Singh and Archan Kehh. After spending a year in Wat Thatkaow, he retreated in the forest for a period of three years. After that he went to Wat Narmathom in Chengwat Chonburi for two years.

Luang Phor Tim learned Wijja (magic) with Ajahan Lod, Ajahn Lem and Ajahn Saii. Luang Phor Tim became the Abbot of Wat Lahanrai.

 Wat Lahanrai,Rayong

LP Tim became the Abbot of Wat Lahanrai and he lead a simple life in the hut where there is only a pillow and a mat with no electricity. After spending 72 years in the Sangha, he passed away om 18 Oct 2518 at the age of 96.

In the year of amulet making by LP Tim (2508-2515) example like LP Tim jelunpong bong, jelunpong lang, Pra Khun Phaen Pong Prai Kumarn Pi 15 etc.

In Thailand market now, all of LP time amulets are in high demand, some go as high as few million Thai baht and Phra Khun Phaen from LP Tim is widely sort after.

Wearing A Khun Phaen amulets have many benefits. It able to naturally attract the opposite sex,
get to be liked, trusted, respected and admired by everyone, get to develop indestructible confidence and courage.,easier to ask for favor and help, successful in everything that your do, great luck and great charm.,victories in all aspects of lifes.

Recently Phra Khun Phaen amulets have being famously talk about. With the recent debating between Phra Khun Phaen amulet 2515 and 2517, Many collectors and devotees are wondering, which one is the real one?

Generally speaking, when we ask the people in Rayong (Where Wat lahanrai is). Nobody have Phra Khun Phaen 2517. They only have 2515. Their question was, As devotees who stay nearest to LP Tim. How come they don't have KP (Khun Phaen) 2515 where as other provinces have it?

Of course we are no expert to comment this, but with years of following Khun Phaen amulets. We have some degree of studies and researches.

As far as we know, Mr Ajarn Pisek of the Glum Anuraks Pra Krueang Luang Phu Tim has stand up and speak up the truth.
People in Rayong showing off the KP pi 15

As much as we find out, here are the few thing we would like to share.

  •  LP Tim has being sick in 2517 and has being hospitalized, so how can he do ritual for the 2517 Khun Phaen? For that we don't know or is it true. (Don't tell me they brought the amulets to hospital, tied the string on LP Tim hand and he do the ritual in bed?)
  • The 2518 coin edition was produced in BE 2516 and was given in BE 2518.
  • If there is any amulets come from Wat Lahanrai, the surrounding village and town people will be the first to get it, not Bangkok. Same practice goes to other province temple.
  • Recently we got info that some big amulet association (I shall not name which one) is not doing any Khun Phaen 2517 certification anymore. Many province collectors and traders had already stop trading KP 2517, only in Bangkok city they are some people still trading KP 2517 among themselves.
