The material that used to make Phra Somdej were from 28 auspicious ingredients from
natural sources. 12 materials were used as the main ingredient where as the remaining
materials are muan san which were mixed into the main ingredient.

The 12 kinds of main ingredient are:
- Clay
- Alumina rich clay
- Cooked rice or flour
- Banana or jackfruit
- Flower, rhizome, stem and leaf of Whan
- Flower used to offer sacrifice to Phra, pollen and stalk of leaf.
- Lead and other metals
- Candle, auspicious candle, candle tear
- Raw-burned fan palm leaf
- Courses and dessert
- Raw cooked shell rock
- Resin for boat filling or rubber oil
The remaining material to act as muan san are
- Krittiyakom or somdej powder
- Joss stick powder, ash and charcoal
- Pollen powder
- Klai Saema powder
- Klai Sao Taloong of white elephant kratom powder
- Gold and silver sand powder
- Gold and silver file powder
- Mineral ore precious stone powder
- Colour rock powder from An Hui city, Kuang xi, China (jade, turquoise)
- Fragrant rice powder
- Dried up cement powder
- Radioactive meteorite powder (Mhet pa tan)
- Casted Khamin Plai powder
- Gold and silver peg powder
- Powder of broken Phra Somkor
- Powder of broken Phra Somdej
